Life Groups.
At New Life Church, Life Groups are our primary vehicle for discipleship. We gather together in small groups every week throughout Cardiff and Newport to live life together, experience the gospel, study the Bible, worship God, serve our communities, and live out God's mission for our church. Throughout the pandemic we have been meeting together virtually and some life groups continue to do this, as well as some meeting together outdoors.
We really value community. When we look at the early Church taking shape in the Book of Acts, we read that those who made up the Church met regularly in small groups to eat together, search the scriptures, pray and grow in relationship. To put it simply, they did life together. We want to follow this example.
Why are Life Groups so important?
Sunday mornings are a time for gathering together as a wider church, where we can hear the Word of God being preached, partake in communion and where we can proclaim the excellencies of God through worship. However, God is a God of community and he doesn't intend for us to be alone in our lives. This is why we strongly encourage everyone to find a home in one of our Life Groups. We intend for these groups to be a place where you can develop friendships, get to know other believers and get plugged into the life of the church.
It is in the Life Groups that we apply the word to our lives in an authentic way. Here you can expect to see people asking questions, praying together, laughing and crying together as well as getting involved in their local communities, demonstrating the love of God to others.
What should I expect?
Each group is unique, and the dynamics will depend somewhat on the location and the people in the group. Discussing the Bible and worshipping God are always central. Some groups will talk about Sunday's sermon in some detail, some will have their own study programme, while others may adopt a more flexible approach. Don't expect a dry and boring Bible study though, Life Groups are all about community living, a place where you can be yourself and where we all encourage each other to live for the glory of Jesus.
